Leif Ilvedson was raised on a farm in Montana spending most of his time outdoors with his twin brother. Creating and building was an active part of his childhood, and that hasn't changed. He currently lives near Mt. Adams, Washington, where he makes the pipes and takes leisurely sunset bike rides through the fertile valley below the mountain. The picture above and at the bottom are from some time spent near Joshua Tree.

The initial idea of the pipe came to Leif one evening during a Seattle stroll. After creating a proof of concept (shown here), he focused on a more aesthetic design while working through a number of prototypes.

Leif loves the look and feel of wood, and the softness it has when compared to ceramic or glass. Wood was a natural choice for him.

Like the artisan tobacco pipe industry, he wanted to create a pipe that held some class. He feels that if a person can do something in style, do it in style. For those that prefer a clean minimal aesthetic, Leif offers it. Woodworm pipes look good in the hand and distinguished on the hutch.

Leif is an industrial designer and artist (www.leifilvedson.com). His philosophy is that beauty, functionality, and quality should exist together. He has learned this combination requires a lot of time on the design side. It took a couple years of research and development before he felt he could offer a consistent quality product that should last a life time.
